Cambodia

Lonely Planet said the journey from Bangkok to Siem Reap would be epic... and epic it was. Though the guide books warned us we would be scammed, scammed we were. All in all it took us almost 12 hours to make the journey and cost about twice as much as it should have BUT we met some great people who shared our misery. Alex, from Wales, has since become our travel companion and once we got into Siem Reap the three of us headed to Mommy's Guest House -- an awesome, family run, $5 a night joint.

We rented bikes and journeyed over 16 miles around Ankor Wat. The temples are incredible and remind me of Nickelodean's Legends of the Hidden Temple. Hiking through the temples, biking through rain storms and sweating constantly was incredibly fun and tiring.

We woke up this morning at 4:45 to bike back to Angkor Wat and to watch the sunrise. Though it was too cloudy to see the sky it was a great way to start the day early before the heat. The temples are huge and my fear of height required a few on-the-butt stair descents. On the way back into town we gave blood at the Children's Hospital. Now we're off for more adventures and FOOD. Loving it all.
